Aon, in partnership with Metnext, and on behalf of Poweo, has created a climatic hazard insurance individuals clients of energy operators. Called 'Cold weather insurance', this offering is available now and costs 4 euros per month on average,
This product covers the climatic hazards of a rigorous winter and reimburses a part of the energy bill of the insured party if the risk becomes a reality. On the basis of a climatic index created by Metnext, subsidiary of France meteo and NYSE Euronext, Poweo reimburses 1 euro per day and per degree for temperatures below the predetermined threshold. For Ile de France (the greater Paris area), Metnext set the threshold at – 1°C. So, for a winter day of -3,5°C in the Paris region, the insured receives a reimbursement of 2.5 euros.
